This year, we invite you to light an online candle in memory of someone special, whether or not you are attending a Light up a Life event. Online candles are easy to light – simply include the name of your loved one and a dedication to them.
The candle will burn from the day you light it until the last day of February 2009, which is when the national hospice Light up a Life 2008 campaign draws to a close.
There is no charge to light a candle in memory on this site, but we would ask you to consider making a donation to a hospice of your choice. Hospices provide free care to over 250,000 people in the UK every year, and with little government support an average of 78% of their costs must be met through fundraising. How much you give is completely up to you – whatever you feel is appropriate.

Please register your details and choose a local hospice to receive your donation, if you wish to make one.

Make a donation to your chosen hospice via our secure donation pages.
Step 3
Leave a dedication and light a candle in memory of your loved one.
Once you’ve lit your candle in memory, you may return to it as often as you’d like. You can also add it to your favourites, using the button at the top of the page, or even forward it as a link to friends and family, should you wish to.
If you have previously lit a candle for someone and wish to light another candle you can do this by logging in with username and password you chose during the registration process.
