Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us.

Help the Hospices, the charity that administers this website, respects your privacy. In keeping with our commitment to protecting your privacy and in the light of the Data Protection Act 1998, this statement is intended to inform you of our data processing practices. If you have any enquiries about this, please contact us. We collect your personal information, including your contact details such as postal and email addresses, to administer this website and provide you with the information you require.

We will also inform the hospice you choose to support with a gift and will pass on your contact details to enable them to process your donation legitimately for Gift Aid purposes, if you have made a Gift Aid declaration. We will not otherwise share any personal information with third parties.

When you are using our secure online donation pages, your donation is processed by our secure transaction partner organisation WorldPay plc, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. Your card information is collected by WorldPay plc, but is not held by Help the Hospices.  If you have any questions regarding secure transactions, please contact us.

You have the right to request a copy  of any information we hold about you and to have that information amended if it is incorrect. 

What other personally identifiable information is collected from you?

When you visit the website, Help the Hospices collects your IP address, and information regarding what pages are accessed. We use this information to help us understand more about how our site is used, so that we can improve it.

 Like many other websites, Help the Hospices websites use cookies. 'Cookies' are small pieces of information sent by an organisation to your computer and stored on your hard drive to allow that website to recognise you when you visit.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of your information?

When you give Help the Hospices personal information, we take steps to ensure that it is treated securely. Any sensitive information (such as credit or debit card details) is encrypted. When you are on a secure page, a lock icon will appear on the bottom of web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.Non-sensitive details (your email address etc) is transmitted normally over the Internet, and this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Help the Hospices cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. 

Candle memories and other website contributions

Any communication or material that you transmit to, or post on, any public area of the site including, but not limited to, any data, questions, comments, suggestions, or the like, is, and will be treated as, non-confidential and non-proprietary information. When posting a candle memory, you agree not to publish, post, disseminate distribute or otherwise transmit any defamatory, offensive, infringing, indecent or otherwise unlawful or objectionable material or information.

Help the Hospices and any other hospice featured on this site will not be responsible for the posting by any user of any defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful material.
